OTBT Team Dream Holiday – Becs

The Logistics Gal! – A supermum who always has a pocket full of cable ties and duct tape, and a free hand for her favourite coffee!

As we head into the summer months it’s the perfect time to think about hiking, biking and outdoor activities, and that’s exactly what our OTBT team member Bex thinks too! Our outdoorsy gal loves to get OTBT with her family and her pick of accommodation is our Boutique Stone Cottage on the Otago Rail Trail near Middlemarch.

The Boutique Stone Cottage is ideally placed for cycling the Otago Rail Trail.
  1. What is your favourite OTBT holiday destination in NZ?
I have a real special bond to the South Island as I have had so many amazing holidays down there and spent 5 years studying in Christchurch. My parents would take us to Queenstown or Wanaka every year for a ski trip and now I am carrying this tradition on with my family of 3 boys and husband. But I would love to venture further south and explore Middlemarch, Otago region.
  2. What is your ideal accommodation stay?
Somewhere cosy and trendy that you can relax and enjoy a coffee.
  3. What do you look for when choosing your accommodation?
A nice big comfy bed with luxury linen and a relaxing setting.
  4. What is a local activity you would consider partaking in?
Would love to take our mountain bikes down to bike some trails for a few days and enjoy the scenery. I’m sure my husband would love to take some time and go fishing in the Taieri River while I enjoyed a Central Otago Pinot!
  5. What is your favourite thing about the OTBT location and why you would recommend it to others?
Otago looks like a fantastic place to visit you can bike for miles and then have relaxing evenings with local wine and food. A perfect holiday! I would love to stay at the Boutique Stone Cottage in Middlemarch, it looks full of history and beautifully renovated.
