Whakatū/Nelson city is located on the eastern shore of Tasman Bay. Tasman/Te Tai o Aorere is the wider region which includes some of the outlying communities of Motueka, Golden Bay/Mohua, Richmond, Wakefield, Brightwater, and Tākaka.

The region is home to two of the Great Walks – The Abel Tasman Coast Track and The Heaphy Track as well as offering a range of spectacular single and multi-day walks and hikes. It is also a popular location for cycling and mountain biking, home to both The Great Taste Trail and The Coppermine Trail

If you love food and drink, the region offers a plethora of locally made and grown produce including olive oils and cheeses, wines, beers, ciders, mushrooms, honey, conserves, berries, and of course the world famous peanut butter. It also holds the title of Aotearoa’s craft brewing capital and top cider city.
